Our ‘Get To Know Me’ series gives you a behind the scenes look at the lives of our social-savvy experts and what it’s like to work at Born Social. From their proudest moments to their dream clients, it’s all here.

Today, meet Liv, an Account Director. Liv has been here for 10 months, and works on clients such as Kiehl’s, Bravissimo and an ✨undisclosed alcohol brand ✨

I’m responsible for…

The Account Director role is hard to describe, as it does change from account to account depending on needs. However, it is predominately two-fold: high-level account hygiene/management and account growth! More specifically, I monitor the standard and timeliness of all account output, join all key client conversations, and provide general support to account team members, while simultaneously seeking out further account opportunities and scoping out new projects.

I work closely with…

Each account that I manage has a decent spread of people from different departments, so I do get to work closely with a lot of different people at Born, which is awesome.

However, based on day-to-day interactions, I’d have to say I work closest with my Social Media Managers (shout-out to Em, Steph, Mirella & Danielle — my GALS).

The best part of my role is…

Being able to provide mentorship and support to my account team members. Additionally, being able to work across such fantastic brands with really lovely client contacts — it makes coming to work easy (even if work now consists of rolling out of bed and onto my desk chair a foot away…)

My *condensed* career story so far…

I had a natural affinity with social media from a young age (once an oversharer, always an oversharer...) which I was able to finesse in my first role out of University. Taking that little bit of experience, I went big and decided to give it a go over in NYC (big move for a little gal from NZ). I lasted 4 years at a start-up digital agency there, growing the social media department from 1 person to 5, and getting to work across some incredible, global booze brands. Last year I made the decision to start a new adventure, this time to London. I arrived without a job and, less than a week later, lockdown hit. Lucky for me, my experience landed me a job at Born not long after!

My dream brand to work with is...

Maybe Netflix? I really admire their tone of voice, it’s very fun and relatable. I’d love to work with any brand that can get away with being that sarcastic, reactive and meme-y. But in general, any brand within my pool of passions — books, film/TV, music, theatre, fashion/beauty — would do just fine.

The proudest moment for me at Born is...

Onboarding virtually during lockdown! I feel like that was such an intimidating and scary way to start a job. I made sure to put myself out there as much as possible, asking questions, setting up random google hangouts and, as anyone at Born can attest to, regularly interacting on Slack, inserting myself into any and all cultural chatter. Most of all, I stayed positive! Looking at where I am now, 10 months on, I’m so proud of what I’ve been able to achieve under less than ideal circumstances. (We even wrote a blog about it - advice to all you remote onboarders out there!)

The most memorable moment at Born is...

There’s a few wee ones and I feel like there are plenty more to come, especially once things start going back to normal… bring it on.

1. Going into the office for the first time in the summer & finally meeting some people face-to-face 😍

2. Concepting TikTok ideas for Kiehl’s and seeing them get brought to life 📱

3. Pulling together a successful 2-day lifestyle shoot for one of our biggest brands in just 2 days 🤩

My guilty pleasure on social…

Is creating really cringe TikTok’s. As a “millennial” I sometimes feel out of my depth but as a QWEEN of the social realm, I will endure. Watch out Gen Z, you don’t know just how cringe it can get… not even close.

Oh, and any cute, squishy pet accounts (go follow @round.boys). Across any platform.

And flooding my besties DM’s with memes.

…. I could go on, I mean we WORK in social media, it’s only natural.

The social platform I couldn’t live without...

Instagram is my constant but TikTok is coming in as a close second — it’s brought me so much joy during these never-ending lockdowns. (In reality, I’m still praying they’ll just bring back Vine).

Right now, I’m binging…

Grey’s Anatomy (I never make it past season 7 but I’m trying again…that musical episode is just so cursed), KUWTK (I’ve never seen it and let me tell you, it’s a trip watching Season 1 now knowing all we know…), and the new seasons of RuPauls Drag Race, UK & US (a forever fave). Yes, I am a professional binger, don’t @ me.

Describe working at Born in three words…

Rewarding. Educational. FUN.

My side hustle...

Should/would be professional speller and part-time singer/songwriter. Care to be serenaded in a very poetic and grammatically correct way?
